In Orange County, stability is expensive.

Rent rises faster than wages. Housing options are limited. One unexpected expense can unravel months of careful planning.

The families served by OCCHC are working hard.

They are building savings. They are pursuing education. They are doing everything right. And still, they are often one emergency away from instability.

  • When housing is uncertain, everything else becomes fragile.

  • Children struggle to focus in school.

  • Parents carry constant financial stress.

  • Dreams get postponed.

OCCHC exists because every family deserves the security to plan for tomorrow.

At The Ranch in Anaheim, sponsors, civic leaders, partners, loyal donors, and long-time friends will gather for one shared purpose: to stand behind families building stability.

To ensure affordable housing is available in Orange County

To ensure families have the tools and the knowledge to achieve homeownership

To celebrate 20 years of SteppingUP

To invest in students who refuse to give up on their future.

Our 2026 Western Gala is a chance to raise some money, change some lives, and have a good ole’ time.

Western attire is encouraged.

For SteppingUP students, getting into college is not the finish line. It’s the first step to taking hold of the promise of a college education. It is also the beginning of a new set of challenges.

Many are the first in their family to attend.

Many are navigating financial systems alone.

Many do not have a financial safety net.

When something unexpected happens: a car repair, a broken laptop, a medical bill, but there’s no backup plan.

Not because they lack determination or discipline. But because they lack margin. And sometimes, that is all it takes. A temporary $300 setback can become a permanent pause. A pause becomes a withdrawal. A withdrawal becomes a dream deferred.

The Compadre Fund exists for this moment.

It steps in quietly. Quickly. Personally. Like a good friend who has your back would.

It protects a student’s progress when life tries to interrupt it. Because education should not collapse under the weight of one emergency. And no student should have to choose between staying enrolled and surviving the month.

To be a compadre is to say: when life happens, we step up.
